  • Parse the specified form of each of the following 3rd declension nouns. First look at the nominative singular form and the genitive singular ending. Then consult the paradigms in chapters 15 and 16 (chapters 13 and 14 in the 1986 edition) and find the one in which the nominative and genitive singular endings correspond to those of the word you are parsing. Then using that paradigm, parse the word in question, identifying its gender, case, and number in that order.

    Example
ἔθνος, -ους, τό, nation. Parse ἔθνους
(both nom. and gen. singular correspond to the nom. and gen. singular endings in the paradigm of μέρος, p. 140, or p. 107 in the 1986 edition) neuter, genitive, singular
